On University Blvd, across from the Panera there is a little restaurant called First Watch. In the past they have been voted "Best Breakfast in Orlando," and to be honest, I think they deserve that title. I was skeptical at first because the "healthy" options on menus are usually bland and tasteless, but this restaurant changed that perception. I had what they call the Lean Machine which consisted of a seasoned ground turkey patty (easily the size of a normal pancake), 2 cholesterol and fat free eggs, tomato slices and a dry English Muffin. The seasoning on the turkey was delicious and everything they served was very fresh. They have other healthy options as well, but several of them involved things like mushrooms and yogurt, which I am not a fan of.
Now I am sure there are some of you who are not enticed by the thought of a dry English Muffin or tomato slices, but they have multiple options ranging from fresh fruit crepes to huge pancakes, and even omelets and Eggs Benedict. Ricky had the Eggs Benedict and thoroughly enjoyed them, so I think there is something for everyone at this particular restaurant.
If for no other reason than trying something new, I recommend going to First Watch for breakfast. They have fresh food, a cozy atmosphere, and any breakfast place that has a wait on a Tuesday morning must be doing something right.
