Holiday Treats or Tricks?

For several years now I have been craving these molasses cookie bars that my mom used to make when I was a kid. They were delicious and I always looked forward to her making them for us. However, over the past few years, we have gone without these piece of tasty deliciousness because the recipe was lost in the deep black hole of the unknown.

Fortunately, my aunt had the recipe and was able to give it to my mother so that she could make these tasty treats. Unfortunately, I started my weight loss journey 2 days before Christmas. What do I do? Do I eat the delicious piece of goodness that contain no nutritional value, or do I abstain and be good. Well, after much deliberation, I must say those molasses bars were just as good if not better than I remember them being.

I know I know, its not a good way to start, but I look at it this way... I have just started (not that its an excuse) and it was Christmas. I did not eat cheesecake, pumpkin pie or even green bean casserole, so one indulgence is not that bad. I could have done a great deal worse.

My mom did offer to send some of those tasty pieces of heaven home with us, but I managed to respectfully decline the offer and made my way back to Orlando without the tasty treats. I will revisit their yumminess around the same time next year. So until then I will suffer by eating the delicious healthy food my husband is making for me as we speak. I love him!
