Caffeine + Sugar = Bad Idea

On Thursday I was definitely dragging a bit. Wednesday night was a bit crazy because we went to see the UCF basketball game featuring the Blue Man Group and met up with some crazy crowds. I tried to drink lots of water and everything else I could think of to wake myself up, but nothing was working. I avoided the temptation of grabbing a soda out of the vending machine, but I knew that if I was this sluggish now, I would not be awake for my class that night.

So I went to Panera to grab dinner since it is quick right before class and realized, "Hey they serve coffee here." At that point I had a dilemma. I do not drink hot black coffee and tea does not do the caffeine trick. I know I should have the refined sugars, but I wanted to get a Frozen Caramel (minus the whipped cream and caramel obviously). Finally, in my head I justified the purchase and ordered my coffee. BAD IDEA.

If you have not had refined sugars or caffeine for a month your body will freak out when you have them and they are combined. I could not stop shaking or talking. I was so hyper. Granted, my class went by like a flash and I seemed very gung ho about being there, but I was not feeling well. When I got home I thought I was going to lose my stomach. It was not happy times.

On the good side, I have now gotten to the point where I do not want to feel that way again, so it will be a long time before I am tempted to buy one of those again. On the negative side, they are still incredibly tasty. I suppose I needed that experience to make myself realize that I am working towards a goal and I need to stay on track.
